Self Magazine Cover & Behind The Scenes Video
Posted On: May 19, 2010 | Posted By: Christine

Seyfried answers reader’s questions in Dear Abby-style, dishing about what it’s like to be an up-and-comer in Hollywood, why she’ll never do a raw food diet again and what made her move from L.A. back to the East Coast.

Seyfried offers up advice on what to do when you have mixed feelings about something or someone who used to make you happy.

“Well, first, for immediate gratification, eat some Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food,” Seyfried advises. “Then call someone who knows you. Not everybody is blessed with great parents, but I’ll call my best friend or sister or mother and get perspective. The things in your life that you usually enjoy aren’t supposed to make you more sad than not.”

Seyfried is a 2003 William Allen High School grad who has had roles in “Mamma Mia!”, “Dear John” and “Letters to Juliet”, which opened May 14.

Amanda Seyfried in full bloom
Posted On: May 14, 2010 | Posted By: Christine

Earlier this week, at an event following the Hollywood premiere of the new movie “Letters to Juliet,” actress Amanda Seyfried found herself under friendly fire. Besieged by back-slapping studio executives and adoring fans — all eager to congratulate her on her role as a young journalist who stumbles into love in Italy — she was pinned down in a restaurant banquette, graciously thanking and hugging admirers as they approached.

But what she really wanted to do was to leave her own party.

“I’m so ready to go,” she sighed while eyeing the next group of people waiting to talk to her. It wasn’t that she was ungrateful for the attention, but rather that she was still rattled after a long day; before the premiere, she had taped an appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, during which she said she had a panic attack. And it was clear that, hours later, she was still feeling anxious.

“I have realized that I hate going to the premieres of the movies that I’m in,” she whispered. “Because I feel this tension after the movie is over that everyone feels obligated to say something nice to you. It’s so unnatural and uncomfortable. You’re not sure if they’re saying it because they feel like they have to or because they genuinely feel that way.”

Amanda Teen Vogue Photoshoot
Posted On: May 14, 2010 | Posted By: Christine

All-American beauty Amanda Seyfried sparkles in her new romantic comedy, Letters to Juliet. (IN THEATRES TODAY!)
It’s 3 p.m. on a gorgeous sunny day in Los Angeles, and Amanda Seyfried is sitting at an outdoor café, wearing a light-blue long-sleeve button-down and shorts, her signature glamorously wavy blond hair peeking out from a mustard-yellow cable-knit cap that she made herself. In a bag on the table is a DIY dog-collar kit for Finn, her blue-eyed Australian shepherd who lies lazily at her feet. The actress isn’t hiding under huge sunglasses, sitting in a dark corner, or ignoring the passersby who stop to pet her adorable pup. (In fact, she’s chatting them up, making it difficult for anyone to get a word in edgewise.)

Amanda is the rare young star who has managed to continue to thrive in Hollywood despite having no background in anything remotely Disney or Nickelodeon, and in case you haven’t noticed, she’s having a moment. In the past year, the 24-year-old actress from Allentown, Pennsylvania, has hit a movie genre trifecta—Dear John, a Nicholas Sparks tearjerker; Chloe, an indie thriller; and this month’s rom-com Letters to Juliet. And beyond the occasional red carpet and the Oscars, where she presented alongside Miley Cyrus, the paparazzi have generally left her alone. The closest they’ve gotten are a few snaps of the actress with beau (and Mamma Mia! costar) Dominic Cooper, although one guy was daring enough to follow Amanda and Finn on a recent six-mile hike.

“I don’t really care about paparazzi—like, I’m not wearing makeup right now and I should be—but when someone follows me around on a day like that, a really wonderful, beautiful day . . .” she trails off. “Had I known he was there, I would have been really upset.” Amanda’s going to have to get used to it.

Amanda Seyfried: I Will Chop My Hair Off!
Posted On: May 07, 2010 | Posted By: Christine

Amanda Seyfried talks about chopping off all her hair, her sexy Skype dates with her BF and her even sexier lesbian love scene!

Amanda Seyfried graces the May cover of InStyle Hair sporting some seriously gorgeous cascading waves. But, this could be the last time we see Amanda with such luscious locks. Like Demi Moore in G.I. Jane before her, Amanda would make a drastic hair change. “I would chop [my hair] all off for a movie, but the role would have to be worth it,” she says.

We wonder if boyfriend Dominic Cooper whom she met on the set of Mamma Mia! would be supportive of such a change. Unfortunately, Amanda and Dominic are often in different places at once. “There’s nothing easy about it,” she admits. “We get on airplanes. You have to be willing to get on one, plain and simple.” But, what do they do when their schedules won’t let them visit? “We Skype – it’s boring, but it’s true. We don’t even sit in front of the computer,” she confesses. “The other day, I was cleaning, he was cleaning. We couldn’t see each other – we were just scrubbing away and talking like we were in the same room.”

Have you checked out Amanda’s steamy love scene with Julianne Moore in Chloe yet? Apparently it wasn’t so steamy to film “Love scenes are always awkward- even in real life they can be awkward,” Amanda says. “In a movie they’re just very technical. We were both nervous, so we laughed a lot. And then the scene turned out exactly the way we wanted it,” she says. We think she looked amazing in the movie but Amanda was a little more critical. “I keep thinking my lips were so big in that movie! My look was all lips and all hair.” Well, cherish that hair while you have it, Amanda. You might be chopping it off soon!

Amanda Admits To Weight Struggles
Posted On: April 24, 2010 | Posted By: Holly

Once upon a time, it was taboo for an actress to acknowledge struggling with weight. When reporters asked your secret, said the unspoken code, the correct answers were: “I have a good metabolism,” or “I love to exercise!” or “I dropped the pounds chasing after my kids.” To this day, few actresses admit they’ve had slimming surgery or suffered eating disorders. But the pressure to look thin on camera is more extreme than ever. Now, actresses like Amanda Seyfried, 24, are suddenly breaking the silence and admitting that staying thin is a struggle.

Seyfried (who stars in Letters to Juliet, opening in May) admitted in a recent interview that she does “a hell of a lot of work” to stay thin. “I’m not going to deny that I don’t think about it every day, it’s always on my mind,” the Mamma Mia star said candidly. “I have to stay in shape because I’m an actress. It’s f—ked up and it’s twisted, but I wouldn’t get the roles otherwise.”
