Amanda Seyfried wants to become immortal.

The actress is set to topline New Regency’s sci-fi action thriller, “I’m.mortal,” from writer-director Andrew Niccol. Twentieth Century Fox will distribute the film, also described as an action love story.

“I’m.mortal” revolves around a society in which aging stops at the age of 25–meaning that every role in “mortal” will be played by actors in their mid-20s.

New Regency picked up the high-priority project this spring. Niccol is expected to begin lensing this year.

Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing via their Strike Entertainment. Strike’s Kristel Laiblin is exec producing.

In “I’m.mortal,” time has become the currency. Once you turn 25 and your aging gene turns off, you must buy and bank time. If you are rich enough, you can live forever. But if you run out of time, you are engineered to die automatically.

When a rebel from the ghetto is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful, rich hostage (Seyfried). Together, this duo rages against the system, living minute to minute. They discover that love is more powerful than all the time in the world.

Seyfried (“Mamma Mia!”) stars in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Red Riding Hood,” from director Catherine Hardwicke. She was last in theaters with “Letters to Juliet” and “Dear John.”

Lead male hasn’t yet been cast.

The male lead in “I’m.mortal” hasn’t yet been cast.

Niccol’s previous directing/writing credits include “Gattaca” and “Lord of War.” He also wrote “The Truman Show.”

“I’m.mortal” isn’t the only sci-fi film project broaching the subject of a future where people don’t age, causing issues of overpopulation.

A remake of “Logan’s Run” has been in the works for more than a decade at Warner Bros. That film focuses on a man trying to escape a mandatory death sentence on his 30th birthday.

“It’s a strange casting process. Even for a small role like a priest or a pawnbroker, where you would normally cast a 75-year-old character actor, I have to find a 75-year-old character actor in a 25-year old body,” Niccol told Daily Variety.

Seyfried is repped by Innovative Artists.

thanks to Incarnadine for the heads up!

Amanda was photographed grocery shopping in Vancouver July 10th where perhaps ‘Red Riding Hood’ has begun filming?

Typically blind items exist so reporters can legally print things like: which A-list actress likes to hoover mountains of cocaine before taking joy rides in network executives cars with kidnapped puppies in the passenger seats? But a newly revealed blind item has exposed Amanda Seyfried for exactly the kind of person she is: a wonderful, kind, beautiful young woman.

According to the addictive Crazy Days and Nights, my beloved Amanda is the generous girl behind this gem:

I had no idea this youngish B list movie actress who has been in one movie after the other for the past year was so nice. Every day she is in town our actress goes to a coffee shop close to where she lives. Everyday she would see the same homeless man there asking for money. One day some guy kicked his cup and our actress stopped to help him pick up the change and they got to talking. From then on they would talk for a minute or two and she would give him a few dollars. She then heard his story and how he had ended up on the streets. Well, after about a month of this, our actress got him a job in the mail room of her agent, found him a place to live and gave him enough money to pay for his expenses for a few months while he was getting on his feet.

And to think, all this was done outside the omnipresent eye of paparazzi’s lens.

Variety reports that Virginia Madsen has signed on to play Amanda Seyfried’s mother in the upcoming medieval thriller Red Riding Hood. Nothing new is being said about the Catherine Hardwicke film, nor anything specific about the role, but it’s just one more piece in an increasingly interesting puzzle. While it must just be more dark fare to follow in Twilight’s footsteps, you might remember that this project already has the likes of Julie Christie and Gary Oldman attached, not to mention Lukas Haas and Shiloh Fernandez. Now if only Hollywood could give Ms. Madsen roles that give her something other than parenting to do… But at least she’s in good company with this one.

So, I was watching the movie ‘Surrogates’ the other night and I saw a dress that Maggie (Rosamund Pike) was wearing that looked so familiar and I looked through pictures of Amanda and saw that she wore the same dress in the movie ‘Chloe’ during the bathroom scene with Julianne Moore! The dress is designed by Zac Posen.

Warner Bros. announced today that Catherine Hardwicke’s RED RIDING HOOD has switched to a brand new date in Spring 2011.

Previously slated to come out April 22, the film about a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) terrorized by a werewolf in a medieval village has moved up to March 11, 2011. This may be due to keep the genre film out of the way of SCREAM 4, which hits just a week previous on April 15, but it’s now pitted directly against Jonathan Liebesman’s BATTLE: LOS ANGELES and releases just a week before another teen supernatural swooner, BEASTLY. RED RIDING HOOD was written by ORPHAN screenwriter David Leslie Johnson and also stars DEADGIRL’S Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Julie Christie, Lukas Haas and Gary Oldman.
